                                                                          Year 7  Design Situation for SEAT IT!

                                                                          The main project in Year 7 involves the students here at BISS following the full MYP Design Cycle and completing the project titled  'Seat It'. It is a project that requires the student to examine what is involved in designing a seat or stool. They must investigate and research all the elements of designing, creating and evaluating a real seat/stool.                                                                           DT Process Journal Assessment

                                                                          Your Process Journal is a typed word - processed document that is like a diary of what you are creating. It needs to contain the following elements;

                                                                          ·      Dated entry for every lesson including the day
                                                                          ·      Description of what you have done during the lesson. All steps and processes.
                                                                          ·      Videos or Photographs of you using machines and tools and the project as well, with a comment on what the photograph is showing.
                                                                          ·      Sketches of Tools, Processes or Safety aspects
                                                                          ·      Any changes to your plan or your design must be written about and photographed or sketched.
                                                                          ·      It must explain how your work today, fits in with your Construction Plan and whats next?
                                                                          ·      You need to describe what tools you used (Machine and Hand Tools). Names and sketches/photographs to explain what is happening.
                                                                          ·      Any safety issues or equipment you have noticed or used.
                                                                          ·      What was your emotions from today? How did you feel? Happy, Frustrated, Satisfied with your progress?
                                                                          ·      Area of Interaction – What Area of Interaction was most noticeable for you today? Write about it and tell us why you think it wa
                                                                          ·      What Learner Profile do you think was most appropriate for your day in the DT Studio. Tell us why you think that?
                                                                          ·      Any other part of the period that you think was important and or related to your project. It could be a demonstration by the teacher or other part of DT that you have noticed.
